Sam walked next to me after I had turned the infirmary over to my 2IC. She ran a hand through her hair and sighed.

"I can't think of a more stressful job," I said.

"No argument there. I can't imagine what Vala must be feeling. I mean she has to deal with the fact that Adria seems intent on converting her. Not to mention that she is in control of a very powerful, dangerous army. And can kill any one of us at a glance," Sam said after a moment.

"There has been a lot going on today."

"Ya, there has." Sam turned to me and stopped. "How is it that people can just go through life thinking everything is all so good? Granted they don't know about children who grow up over night and command power hungry servants of equal power hungry gods. No one knows that the Jaffa's sacrificed their weapon – their home world – because they thought they had the answers. What makes us think we can stop them?"

I smiled sadly at Sam as she leaned against the wall. "Everyday is a fight, and we just have to keep going. I know Vala is torn about everything that has happened with Adria. Part of her would like to kill her herself, another part is still tied to her daughter. Teal'c, a man of very few words, is just crushed. He worked so long, so hard, to find and secure Dakara, just to have it all wiped away. I don't know if the Jaffa would have realized that Adria was really controlling the ship and not you all, that we really never betrayed them like they thought, it would have made a difference."

"It was not us who destroyed the remainder of the Jaffa," Teal'c said, coming up behind me. "It was the act of a coward who did not want to face her enemies face to face."

Sam nodded and looked grateful at Teal'c. "I suppose we know the enemy as well as we ever did."

I placed a hand on Sam's shoulder. "When this adventure all started, the SGC never thought the Gou'ald would be beaten. We have to believe that Adria and the Ori will be beaten too. We have a strength they can't imagine."

Teal'c bowed his head in agreement and I left them to talk, as I continued to my quarters.
